Espace Chimay is an invitation to explore the brewery
You follow the tour using a tablet. First, you find an animated model of the abbey. You should know that the beer is still produced in Scourmont Abbey, a few hundred metres away. While you can visit this abbey, the brewery is not open to the public. As a result, this model helps you to get an idea of the scope of the brewery project.
This space allows you to get a better understanding of the process behind producing a Trappist beer. For example, you can see the basic ingredients. The production of cheese is also covered. The exhibition highlights the production method for both of these flagship products.
They have recently added a game you can play blindfolded. The idea is to recognise the items just by touching them. They are all connected to Chimay beer. You can even ask for clues, which are delivered in a unique way.
Naturally, the tour ends by tasting a Chimay beer.
Taste cheese and beers at the Auberge du Poteaupré
Chimay Experience is located right beside Auberge du Poteaupré. This is somewhere you can eat and drink in peace.
There’s even a nice playground for kids.
